Our team arrived in Kremenchuk without American goalkeeper Nick Vilardo. As a result, the burden of responsibility during this season once again fell on the 18-year-old Nazar Boyko.

From the start of the match, it was evident that this game would differ significantly from the previous friendly meeting at the Iceberg Arena. Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team successfully capitalized on their first power play opportunity in the game.

Although their success rate took a slight hit in the match against Storm-Odessa, our team continued scoring spree during the 5×4 play in matches against Kremenchuk. Oliynyk set up Karpenko for a shot, which found the back of Hordiushyn’s net in the near corner.

The spectators had to wait almost 30 minutes for the next goal to be scored. During this time, the home team took control of the game and unleashed a barrage of shots on Boiko’s goal. However, Hordiushyn also faced some challenging moments.

Shortly after their third power play opportunity, Andrii Sriubko`s team managed to score while playing at even strength. Following Pankov’s shot, the puck deflected into the Capitals’ net.

Consequently, the home team started the third period with a good mood. However, later match became evenly balanced once again before the next goal could potentially provide a significant advantage to one of the opponents.

This turned out to be the case as Vadym Shaykhraychuk’s team swiftly converted into a goal its second power play. Luhovyi took the shot towards the goal, and the puck deflected off Materykin’s skate, finding its way to Hordiushyn`s goal.

Despite the hosts putting in a valiant effort to mount a comeback, they were ultimately unsuccessful. With just 35 seconds left in the match, Andrii Sriubko attempted a 6×5 play, but the defense of the guest team effectively thwarted any imminent threats near Boiko’s goal. It’s worth mentioning Nazar, who had yet another impressive performance in the championship.

As a result, Capitals garnered five points from challenging trips to Odesa and Kremenchuk, propelling them to second place with 20 points. Meanwhile, Andrii Sriubko’s team remained in fourth place with 15 points.

Next Wednesday, Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team will be facing off against Kryzhynka in their upcoming match, while Kremenchuk will take on Dnipro a day before.
