Deivids Sarkanis was born in Riga, Latvia, and began his senior career with Dinamo Riga. He later represented Prizma, Kurbads, and Mogo/RSU, winning three consecutive Optibet Hockey League titles with the latter. His international career has taken him to France with Morzine-Avoriaz Les Gets, Austria with Kitzbüheler EC, the United Kingdom with the Nottingham Panthers and Milton Keynes Lightning, and Sweden with Kalix HC.
Sarkanis has represented Latvia at the U17, U20, and senior national team levels. Across his club career, he has won five Optibet Hockey League championships and one bronze medal.
Ahead of the 2026/27 season, Deivids Sarkanis joined Kyiv Capitals.
