The Kyiv team approached their first match practically straight off the bus, having arrived in Kaunas on the day of the game. In contrast, their opponents had already played one match, losing to the tournament hosts, Sostine Hockey, with a score of 2:5.
In the first 15-minute period (this is the duration of periods according to the tournament regulations), the Ukrainians had two power plays, while their opponents had one. However, in the second period, it was our rivals who managed to capitalize on a numerical advantage. Price was the first to the rebound after a shot by Reilly.
Less than five minutes later, the English team doubled their lead. This time, Reilly found the back of Datsiuk’s net with a shot from almost the blue line, with Price acting as the assister.
Yevhen Alipov’s team was unable to change the situation in the third period. However, tomorrow they have a busy schedule with three matches lined up:
13:00: Kyiv Capitals – Estonia (U-18)
17:00: Kyiv Capitals – Sostine Hockey
20:00: Kyiv Capitals – Laima.
