Before this match, Oleg Shafarenko’s team underwent several changes in squad. Filimonov was moved to the fourth pair of defenders, with Dvoretskyi taking his place at the start. Additionally, the first and second links of the attack switched positions, except for Borodai, who teamed up with Blahyi and Zakharov in the attack instead of Razumov. Berdniks also returned to the Capitals’ lineup. Deniss secured a spot in the starting five as expected, while Tyshchenko joined the third link of the attack.

The scoring opened in the 12th minute of the game, with Zakharov capitalizing on the home team’s defensive mistake and scoring successfully after a throw by Blahyi.

During the opening 20 minutes, the hockey players focused solely on scoring this goal. Notably, there were no eliminations in the match before the first break.

In the second period, Sokil extended the lead. Each team had a two-minute power play opportunity, but both failed to capitalize on them effectively. Towards the end, with both teams evenly matched, Razumov initiated a swift attack for the visiting team, and although Berdniks appeared to dispossess Zakharov, Kachan seized the loose puck and delivered a powerful shot past Babik.

Just before the interval, Oleg Shafarenko’s team further increased their lead, with Zakharov securing a brace with a well-placed shot into the top corner of Babik’s net.

In the 49th minute, Capitals got more troubles after Taran and Tyshchenko were given two-minute penalties. Despite this, Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team showed resilience.

In the third period, a quick goal was crucial for Capitals to mount a comeback, but it eluded them, and the entire 20-minute period passed without giving the fans a chance to celebrate. This marked the second time in the series that our team allowed Diachenko to secure a shutout, putting Sokil ahead by two victories.

However, the battle is not over! The fifth match between the teams is set for March 11th.
