The home team made significant changes for the first playoff derby, with players such as Bohdan Diachenko, Vadym Mazur, Oleksii Yanishevskyi, and Oleksandr Horlushko returning to the ice compared to the last match. On the other hand, the visiting team, led by Vadym Shakhraichuk, made minor adjustments to their lineup, with the only change being the inclusion of Oleksandr Dreval in place of Oleksandr Valkun.

Both teams approached the initial stages of the game cautiously, with only one penalty resulting. Despite one team having the upper hand in possession, Shakhraichuk’s team failed to convert their power play into goals, resulting in a goalless first period.

Early in the second period, Oleg Shafarenko’s team had two power play opportunities after Chernenko was sent off. However, they were unable to capitalize on these chances and were unable to score.

Sokil was destined to open the scoring in the match. Dvoretskyi initiated the attack from deep, and Razumov delivered a masterful cross to Babik’s goal, which Bondariev promptly finished.

Sokil then doubled the lead within 3,5 minutes, once again thanks to the partnership of Razumov and Bondariev. Maksym took a shot on goal, and Artem was quick to follow through.

During the second period, Capitals found themselves shorthanded for an extended period during four times. At the same time Sokil was penalized only once. However, Oleg Shafarenko`s team managed to extend their lead for the third time when the teams were nominally even, despite Berdniks not yet rejoining the game. Finally, after Babik attempted to clear the puck from the goal, Babynets was the first to pounce on it, swiftly passing to Kachan, whose powerful shot left the Slovakian goalkeeper with no chance.

In the third 20-minute period, Oleg Shafarenko’s team extended their lead to four goals. Borodai assisted Mazur, who successfully maneuvered past Tyschenko before scoring against Babik.

This marked the end of scoring in the game. Consequently, Sokil achieved their most decisive victory to date against Capitals, with Vadym Shakhraichuk’s players leaving the rink without conceding a single goal for the first time in the derby.

Nevertheless, our team has less than two days to address any errors before the upcoming match on Sunday.
