Both opponents were eager to secure a victory for their fans in the final match of this year. Capitals hockey players arrived in Bila Tserkva as the favorites, but they needed to prove their status on the ice.
The home team took the lead early in the match, with Duiun winning the face-off and Valentyn Muryn breaking Boyko’s dry streak with a shot from medium range.
As the first period progressed, the Kyiv team managed to equalize the score when Panchenko capitalized on Tyshchenko’s pass from behind the goal, beating Taras Muryn. A similar play from our team then saw Kryvonozhkin assisting Karpenko in successfully putting the team ahead.
In the second period, Laktionov received a double minor penalty for a high-sticking infraction, and Capitals took advantage of the power play. Tyshchenko skated almost the length of the ice and scored from close range, catching Taras Muryn off guard.
Despite this setback, the Pikes were determined and managed to narrow the score difference. Laktionov scored successfully, assisted by Bortnikov with a precise pass. Tymofii quickly regained his composure and scored another goal for his team.
Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team came close to extending the lead when Tyshchenko appeared to score, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside call.
Before the second break, Chernenko and Karpenko, who each scored a goal, allowed Kyiv Capitals to extend their lead to three goals. Towards the end of the game, guests further solidified their lead. Berdniks contributed a goal along with four assists, sealing a final score of 2:6.
As a result, Kyiv Capitals accumulated 38 points after 16 matches, securing their position as the leaders of the tournament table heading into the New Year’s break. On the other hand, Kostiantyn Butsenko’s team remained in fifth place with six points.
