Compared to yesterday’s match, there have been some changes in the teams. The starting goalkeepers for today’s match were Robson and Boyko, with Blaze missing Luciani, the master of assists from the previous game.
However, the British team started off very actively, with Heintz and Kennedy quickly scoring two goals by the sixth minute. This fast-paced action prompted Kyiv’s coaching staff to make a change in goal, bringing on Babik in place of Boyko.
Unfortunately, Blaze continued to struggle in possession until the first break, with Kennedy who scored a double with a bright long-distance throw.
The second period proved crucial, as Kyiv Capitals conceded twice in just over 30 seconds, both times while being down a player. Constable and Kuqali capitalized on quick counterattacks, scoring individual goals to further solidify their lead.
Capitals could not escape from such a setback. By the end of the second period, Coventry had extended their lead further by scoring four more goals, with McKenzie, Hopkins, Kennedy, and Tallberg making significant contributions. During the second period, Vadym Shakhraichuk made a decision to substitute the goalkeeper for the second time, bringing Boyko back onto the ice.
The teams entered the final 20 minutes with a score of 0:9. The home team did not waver in their determination. Gresock and Alderson scored consecutively on power plays, while Jurgens sealed the match with the final goal, resulting in a final score of 0:12.
The Kyiv Capitals encountered contrasting defeats in their first international experience, but they remain focused on their season preparations with much work still to be done.
