Former Ukrainian national team forward and current serviceman of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR), Oleksii Lazarenko, has taken a position with our club.
A product of Kharkiv’s hockey system, Lazarenko played for three teams in his hometown – Dynamo, Barvinok, and Vityaz – and also represented Donbas during his career in Ukraine.
Internationally, Oleksii gained extensive experience in Canada with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Val-d’Or Foreurs, as well as in the United States with the New Haven Knights and the Hartford Wolf Pack.
In 1994, he was drafted by the New York Rangers and appeared in several exhibition games for the NHL franchise. Additionally, the forward represented Ukraine at both the U-20 and senior national levels. As a coach, he has worked with Vityaz and the Kharkiv Berserks.
Due to his current status as a serviceman, Lazarenko will perform his duties remotely, focusing on strategic issues of club development. Once he is able to transition to full-time work, Oleksii is expected to take over the role of General Manager of Kyiv Capitals.
Welcome to the team! We look forward to a productive partnership.
