Playoff Semifinal, March 26, 19:15, Riga, Mogo Ice Arena.
Series score – 0:1.
Heading into the second game in Riga, Kyiv Capitals hold a narrow lead in the series. However, this is only the first step toward the final, and there is still a lot of work ahead.
The victory in the opening head-to-head game was important for several reasons. The most obvious one is simply taking the lead in the series – because chasing an opponent, even with a minimal advantage, is always more difficult.
It was also important to get revenge after the 1:9 loss in the previous meeting at Mogo Arena. Another key aspect was psychological resilience. The opponents were in a much better emotional state heading into overtime after equalizing with 65 seconds left in regulation. However, Oleg Tymchenko`s team got a power play opportunity and made the most of it.
Every playoff game tells its own mini-story. So today’s matchup will be another test of strength. The task is clear for both teams, and tonight we will see who executes it better.
It should be added that in the other matchup, Liepaja won the second game 8:3, leveling the series against Zemgale/LBTU.
