Oleg Tymchenko’s wards routed Hockey Punks for the second time in ten days.
Our team arrived in Lithuania with a somewhat shortened roster. On the eve of the match, Tsarkovskyi and Morozov were added to the injury list. As a result, the Kyiv Capitals’ head coach could only rely on three forward lines. The rotation at the goaltender position continued, with Mölder taking his place in net.
By the middle of the first period, the guests had found the back of Lamper’s net twice. Zukauskas finished at the near post following a pass from Stradnieks, and then Cipruss single-handedly picked up the puck behind the net and masterfully sent it home.
However, this was only the beginning. Before the first intermission, Cipruss secured a brace, sending the puck between Lamper’s pads with a shot from a sharp angle. Stradnieks, following a pass from Sarkanis, faced no proper resistance from Jakubovskis and Siekerka, hitting the unprotected corner of the Vilnius team’s net. Then, the players of the first offensive line swapped roles. Stradnieks redirected the puck to Sarkanis after a dump-in from Sprukts, and our team’s top scorer made no mistake. Thus, the score became 5:0 in favor of the Ukrainian representatives.
In the second period, Sarkanis scored two more goals, completing a hat-trick. Here, Deivids’ versatility came into play, as he scored goals of every variety. In total, he recorded five points (3+2), allowing the forward to top the league’s scoring chart (14 points).
In the 35th minute, the Lithuanians managed to get on the scoreboard. Pavliukov sent Redko one-on-one with Mölder, and the Ukrainian managed to beat the Estonian goaltender. However, before the second intermission, the captain of Kyiv Capitals, Gatis Sprukts, added a goal to his three assists.
In the final period, Zelts sent another puck into the opponents’ net, establishing the final score of the match – 1:9. This victory allowed Oleg Tymchenko’s team to earn eight points and solidify their hold on second place in the standings.
