Following yesterday’s matchup, there was only one change in Kyiv`s team lineup. Instead of Illia Baida, his brother Anton took a spot on the fourth line.
The hosts managed to open the scoring in the game, but Kovalchuk, who scored in his second consecutive match, restored parity. Still, the teams went into the first intermission with a narrow lead for Glasgow Clan.
The second period proved key in this matchup. Double from the captain and today’s birthday boy, Sprukts, along with two goals from Brants and a goal by Honcharenko, transformed the narrow deficit into a four-goal lead for Kyiv Capitals.
In the third period, a goal by Jansons increased our team’s advantage to five goals. However, Mike Sirant’s squad slightly narrowed the gap, scoring twice.
Ultimately, the final siren confirmed our team`s victory over the bronze medalist of the previous EIHL season with a score of 7:4.
