After their victorious debut in the Optibet League, Oleg Tymchenko’s side is set to play their first home game. The Inbox Arena near Riga will serve as the home venue for the Kyiv team.
Their second opponent will be Panter, representing the Estonian capital. The Tallinn side has already played two league matches, collecting two points. Last Saturday, they edged Riga’s Prizma 5:4 in overtime away from home, while in their season opener at home, they suffered a heavy 1:7 defeat to a familiar rival of ours, Zemgale/LBTU, under Finnish head coach Mikko Maenpaa.
Panter’s roster is composed almost entirely of Estonian players, with their only foreign forward, Lenni Suutari, from Finland.
Looking at current stats, Nikita Fedorovits stands out for Panter with one goal and two assists. The team’s leader for the Capitals is Estonian forward Daniil Fursa, who scored the overtime game-winner and added an assist.
Interestingly, Fursa spent last season with Panter. In addition, Danylo Tsarkovskyi also played for the Tallinn side at both junior and senior levels earlier in his career.
This time, however, both will line up for Kyiv Capitals. So, we’ll see which of the teams manages to extend their positive run.
