Oleg Tymchenko’s team has gained good momentum thanks to two wins at the start of the season. On Saturday, they will face off against Liepaja, which is currently in second place in the league table.
Edgars Brancis’ team has played four games on home ice, defeating Energija (9:1), HS Riga (3:1), and Hockey Punks (5:1). On Wednesday, however, the Liepaja side fell in a shootout to Mogo/RSU (2:3).
It’s worth noting that the opponent’s roster is made up mainly of Latvian players, with just two foreigners: Czech goaltender Michael Valenta and Lithuanian forward Dominykas Sadauskas. Meanwhile, the team’s current scoring leader is Kevins Stradnieks, who has two goals and five assists to his name.
As for the Capitals, the game against Panter allowed Lauris Bajaruns to take the team lead in points with 2+1.
So, on Saturday we will see whether our team can continue their positive winning streak – and also how Liepaja will cope with their first road game of the season.
