Oleg Tymchenko’s team defeated Hockey Punks for the third time this season.
The Kyiv team entered the matchup in Lithuania with minor lineup adjustments. Brants returned to the ice, while Zelts was left out of the squad. Romi Huunonen got the nod in goal. Meanwhile, Elmo Aittola’s side could only field three lines.
At the start of the first period, the Vilnius host was penalized three times in quick succession, and on their third power-play opportunity, the visitors capitalized on the numerical advantage. Siekkinen reacted fastest during a scramble in front of the crease to poke the puck past Baltrunas.
However, that was only the beginning. Morozov and Sislannikovs extended the Kyiv Capitals’ advantage before the first intermission.
The scoring in the second frame opened courtesy of another power-play conversion. Begovs produced a clinical strike from a sharp angle. Following that, Rustams’s teammates found the back of the net five more times through efforts from Honcharenko, Stradnieks, Siekkinen (completing his brace), and Brants.
In the final period, Sprukts registered another powerplay tally, while Honcharenko joined Siekkinen by grabbing his second goal of the night. Ultimately, the Ukrainian representatives claimed a dominant 11:0 victory, while Romi Huunonen recorded his third shutout of the season.
