Oleg Tymchenko’s wards left Poland with one victory.
Our team approached the second meeting with no roster changes, except for the goaltending position, where Huunonen replaced Mölder. On the other hand, Sami Hirvonen made several changes to the line combinations. Additionally, Studzinski started in the net from the first minutes, and Prokurat took Michal Kalinowski’s place on the roster.
After a scoreless first period, the hosts scored a quick goal in the second. Kolesnikov fought for the puck in the opponent’s zone, and Zielinski picked it up, closed in on Huunonen, and opened the scoring with a powerful shot off the crossbar.
Unfortunately, the Kyiv team failed to convert their chances, and the hosts doubled their lead in the final minute of the second period. Kyiv Capitals players lost a face-off in their own zone. After a prolonged attack, Kolesnikov recorded his second assist, setting up Syty for a shot. The latter didn`t miss.
Unfortunately, only the Polish team managed to score in the third period as well. Zukauskas made a gross mistake near his own net, which was capitalized on by Kolesnikov, who added a goal to his two assists. In turn, Denyskin sealed the match. The Ukrainian national team forward successfully played on the rebound after a shot by Kolesnikov, who contributed to all four goals.
Thus, Sami Hirvonen’s wards managed to take revenge for yesterday’s defeat, and Studzinski earned a shutout.
