Tomorrow, the highly anticipated first match of the 2024/2025 Ukrainian Championship will take place as Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team faces off against last year’s bronze medalist, Dnipro.
It’s worth noting that Kyiv Capitals’ lineup remains unchanged from their Ukrainian Cup games. However, the Kherson club, known as the pikes, has undergone significant changes.
Firstly, the team is now led by the experienced coach Kostiantyn Butsenko. Secondly, Dnipro has shifted their home matches and training process from Odessa to Bila Tserkva. Moreover, the Kherson team has seen a near complete overhaul in their lineup, with only Kyrylo Bortnikov remaining from the previous season.
Noteworthy signings include former Berserks players Taras Muryn, Valentyn Muryn, Dmytro Klionov, Taras Karnaukh, Denys Osadchyi, and Daniil Derkach.
Dnipro team faced off against Kremenchuk in the first round of the championship. Initially scheduled for October 31st, the match was delayed to the next day due to an air alert. Despite opening the scoring, the Kherson team ultimately lost 3:10.
During the off-season, the teams met for three friendly matches, all secured by Kyiv Capitals. However, official matches paint a different picture, signaling anticipation for the upcoming season.
Notably, this match will stand as the sole fixture in the second round, with the Kremenchuk – Sokil and Storm-Odesa – Kryzhynka games rescheduled for later dates due to different reasons.
