Both teams started the game in optimal formations. The guests saw the return of Stetsiura to the attack after a long suspension, adding depth to their offense. Despite the hosts starting the match off on the front foot they gaining an early numerical advantage after penalty for Sapozhnik’s, which they were unable to capitalize. However, the hosts who found the back of the net first, with Panchenko initiating a swift counterattack finished off by Koida’s precise finish.
As the first period progressed, Capitals successfully defended while short-handed and extended their lead early in the second part of period. Tyshchenko capitalized on Berdniks’ pass to beat Zakharchenko for the second time from close range. Despite the opponents receiving more penalties than Capitals in the following 20 minutes, Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team couldn’t further their lead during power plays.

However, the scored changed when Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team capitalized on their power play, with Berdniks adding his goal to beat Zakharchenko, whose view was obstructed by Liesnikov.
With just 1:41 remaining in the third period, Capitals extended their lead with Tyshchenko netting a double off Panchenko’s assist for the second time. But, Danylo’s unsportsmanlike conduct earned him a two-minute penalty, which the opponents failed to capitalize on despite their 6×4 advantage.
As a result, Kyiv Capitals secured their spot in second place, closing in on Sokil with just a two-point difference. Meanwhile, Storm-Odesa remained in fourth. Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team will face Kremenchuk in their next match on Tuesday, while Oleksandr Bobkin’s squad will take on Dnipro tomorrow.
