For the first match of the final round, the Kyiv team took to the ice with what was essentially their usual line-up. The only exception was the absence of Valeriia Ovchinnikova, along with some changes in the line combinations – exactly three lines were listed for the game.
The action on the ice developed very quickly. By the 43rd second, Kosich scored her fourth goal in this year’s encounters against Kraken Sisters, thus opening the scoring in the match. The pressure from Yevhen Alipov’s team only intensified, especially during a power play they earned quite early on. However, they couldn’t capitalize on it.
Nevertheless, the second forward line wasn’t planning to slow down. Elizabeth Alipova, whom we’re used to seeing in the first line, continued to convert her playmaking efforts, and Kosich completed a brace.
Midway through the period, the Odesa team got their first chance to play with a 5×4 advantage, but they failed to create real danger near Hamarnyk’s goal.
Overall, penalties were plentiful in the opening 20 minutes. Capitals had 27 seconds of a two-player advantage but scored during a regular power play with just one extra player. The goal was scored by Elen Alipova, the captain of the home team, marking her fifth goal against Kraken Sisters this season.
In the second period, the Kyiv hockey players showed no signs of stopping. It took them less than three minutes to double their lead. Kopylova, Mesropian, and Elizabet Alipova added their goals.
Before the period ended, fans at the Chalette Arena witnessed another brace – this time by Mesropian, who capitalized on a rebound after Trufanova’s shot.
In the third 20-minute period, the score remained unchanged for quite a while, but eventually, the Kyiv team netted three more goals against their opponents. Fetsenko added a goal, while Kosich completed a hat-trick, and Elizabet Alipova sealed her brace.
Thus, Kyiv Capitals scored double digits against their rivals for the third time this season. On Saturday, our team will face Panthers, while the Odesa team will clash with the Kharkiv squad tomorrow to determine the silver medalist of the championship.
