Before the match, four hockey players left Ihor Arkhypenko’s team. Kyrylo Bondarenko and Illia Senik haven`t played any matches, while Andrii Baibarza and Ihor Shevchenko were regular contributors on the ice, with Shevchenko emerging as the second-highest scorer for the team. Meanwhile, defender Oleksandr Polovchenko made his debut at the Ukrainian championship for Kryzhynka.
On the Kyiv Capitals side, Mykhailo Vasyliiev and Nazar Boiko rejoined the squad. Despite being the favorites, Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team took the lead in the seventh minute, with Chernenko providing a fantastic pass to Panchenko, who then calmly slotted the ball into the corner of Petlenko’s goal.
Unfortunately, an air alarm interrupted the match in the middle of the first period, but after a 40-minute delay, the game resumed.
Before the break Capitals extended their lead. Chernenko providing the second assist and Tyshchenko capitalizing on the captain’s play with a successful goal.
Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team then took advantage of a power play following Artem Arkhypenko’s penalty, as Luhovyi managed to score against Petlenko for the third time.
In the second period the hosts quickly earned a two-minute power play opportunity. However, Kyiv Capitals were able to capitalize on this interval with a goal from Karpenko.
Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team showed no signs of slowing down as Sirchenko quickly extended the visitors’ lead to five goals.
Just as the third period got underway, an air alarm interrupted the game in Kyiv for nearly an hour, but both teams eventually returned to the ice. Capitals capitalized on a narrow numerical advantage for the second time, with Karpenko netting his second puck.
Sekirko added another goal for the guests, while Tyshchenko scored a double with just 25 seconds remaining, even though his team was playing short-handed. Boiko clinched his third shutout of the championship, helping Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team secure the top spot in the tournament standings with 44 points.
