September 27–28, 13:30, Pinki, Inbox Ice Rink.
After a short break, Oleg Tymchenko’s men will once again face a Lithuanian opponent. This time, they will host Energija on home ice.
Last season, the Elektrenai side finished fifth in the regular standings, missing out on the playoffs. Currently, under Latvian head coach Arunas Aleinikovas, the team sits in seventh place.
In four games played, Energija has earned one win – defeating Panter away (3:2) — while suffering three losses against Liepaja (1:9), Mogo/RSU (3:5), and the already mentioned Panter (0:2).
As for the roster, alongside Lithuanian players, the team includes five imports. Among them are two Canadians, Jared Brock and Matthew Gould, as well as Ukrainians Oleksandr Hutsu, Serhii Lohach, and Nazar Ruzhnykov.
It is worth noting that three current Capitals players have previously worn the Energija jersey: Maksym Duve, Danylo Tsarkovskyi, and Yaroslav Panchenko, who hasn`t already joined our roster this season.
Looking at the scoring race, Energija’s leaders are Tadas Kumeliauskas and Eimantas Noreika, each with four points (1+3). Among the Kyiv side, after the game against Hockey Punks, Rustams Begovs has emerged as the scoring leader with seven points (1+6).
So, we are eagerly anticipating two more Ukrainian-Lithuanian clashes in the Optibet League.
