As previously mentioned, Capitals began the season without their primary goalkeeper, Boris Babik. In the current match, Nazar Boyko stepped in to take his place between the posts. Right from the start, Boyko’s saves proved crucial in helping Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team keep a clean sheet. Particularly impressive was his stop following Senik’s shot.
As the game progressed, both teams had their fair share of opportunities. It was in the 19th minute that Luhovyi managed to break the deadlock with a brilliant individual effort, only to have the goal disallowed due to a foul against Makarenko.
The second half saw Danylo shine after a pass from Tyshchenko. Despite another amazing opportunity for the Capitals’ striker in the 65th minute, the Tryzub goalkeeper stood firm. Oleksandr Yakovenko’s side successfully navigated through three shorthanded situations, with Makarenko’s saves proving instrumental.
Following the final penalty kill, the visiting team launched a swift counterattack to take the lead. Halin capitalized on a chance from a tight angle, beating Boyko to put his team ahead.
At the start of the third period, Tryzub doubled its advantage. Vysotenko hit Boyko’s ninth goal. In 10 minutes, the nominal guests distinguished themselves for the third time, realizing the power play. Rosliakov was the first to finish after Zyk’s throw.
Senik further distanced our team from victory. Tryzub`s rookie took advantage of a mistake by the Karpenko-Berdniks duo and hit Boyko’s goal from close range while his team was in the minority.
In less than 30 seconds, Panchenko opened the scoring for the Capitals. However, our didn`t get close to the opponents. Thus, Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team is eliminated from further competition for the trophy.
