October 18, 13:15, Riga, HS Riga Ice Arena
After a setback in their previous game, Oleg Tymchenko’s side approaches the next matchup with maximum motivation. Up next is the only team the Capitals have yet to face – HS Riga.
Juris Ozols’ team has played five games so far and has yet to earn a single point. The team`s squad is mainly composed of young players (mostly born in 2008) who are gaining valuable experience by competing against more seasoned opponents.
Riga has scored five goals, and three of their players have collected two points each – currently the team’s best individual total. Among them are Davids Danilovs (2+0), Kristers Obuks (1+1), and Markuss Ansons (0+2).
Meanwhile, the most efficient player in the Kyiv Capitals lineup remains Martins Karsums, who has tallied 15 points (5+10) so far this season.
It is worth noting that several Capitals players previously gained experience and developed within the HS Riga system – both at the junior and senior levels. These include Daniil Fursa, Kristians Zelts, Andrejs Kostjuks, Renars Cipruss, Rustams Begovs, Edmunds Augstkalns, and Janis Voris.
Now, they will face their former club as experienced professionals, taking on a younger generation of players.
Despite Riga’s current position in the standings, there’s no room for relaxation – the recent game against Prizma clearly showed what can happen otherwise. Therefore, the Capitals approach their next scheduled game with full concentration and focus.
